Whew, I had a busy weekend, got a few projects wrapped up around the house and of course starting new ones. Oh and the kids got their drivers license this week so Add worried dad the list!
High points (I know I did a lot more than this):
My Lovely bride took me out to brunch at the new fancy restaurant in town called The Metropolitan Downtown and oh my was it Delicious! She spoils me so! I had the Mr. Benedict. probably one of the most flavorful hollandaise sauce I have ever had.
Wafer light didn’t take much and replaced a outdated fixture we installed when we first moved into the house. we took a trip to Menards to get some supplies, Merideth smacked her head hard on the tailgate of our Armada.
Meredith built us lovely fireplace and mantel back in November while I was down after carpal tunnel surgery and this weekend we finally got the trim up and the corbels done. I made the corbels out of the same wood as the mantel and made them 5 1/4 inches wide, Merideth wanted the wide and chunky. After i cut the arc in the individual pieces I glued them together to the the desired width. then belts sanded them smooth. the backs are routed out to fit over the brackets the hold the mantel up. Next, I flush mounted magnets to the corbels and metal attachment pieces to the mantel so they could possible be switch out for the seasons
Spent some time over at the In-Laws they just had there ceiling skimmed and textured. Then I painted it a couple weeks ago. So we had to rehang the lights
We did Some Armagedon shopping (cause you COVID-19 is taking over the world) and finally got to make beef jerky! Yes, I am a Master at many crafts! Hope you all had a great weekend! look for my post on the the project I started I think your gonna like it!.
This is one of our first projects, Merideth bought an old headboard at a garage sale and had a great vision of this bench. We took it home and sanded all the old lacquer and paint, lots of sanding and really not my favorite thing …
No not the Nervana song although it is a fantastic song! This is an actual Heart Shaped Jewelry box that my lovely bride, Ms. Merideth, wanted me to make for her dear friend. Valentine’s Day being tomorrow was just a Qwinky Dink. Quick Note: I …
So Craftsman, I do more that just make stuff in the garage,
Shooting has always been one of my favorite things to do. Since I was very young I got to go shooting with my Dad and my Brother. My dad would actually do splatter art with his .44 Mag ( wish I had pictures of that!).
I was talking to a good friend of mine on Friday night over dinner, and we talked about hitting up the range. Saturday morning we headed to Wal-mart, But they no longer sell ammo for handguns. So, we went up to the local gun store, literally 3 blocks from my house. We grabbed some targets and some target ammo.
I took my youngest boy with me and we went and spent a hour and about 300 rounds on various fire arms.
We all did pretty well, tried some new techniques. ll in all I think we might survive the Zombie Apocalypse!
Will post the latest project from Twine and Tumbleweeds! soon!
Ok, Here we go, Part 3 of the middle kid’s room update, to go along with the desk and bookshelf, Coat hanger and Shelves. Our Son is really liking the Industrial look the room is getting This coat hanger made from 1/2 inch black pipe …
Part 2 for our middle kid’s room to match the Black Pipe frame desk we made last week. We want the decor in the room to match all around. I stared with 2 X 12s, planing them just enough to flatten them out I also …
Even with all our building restoring creating and rough hands, we have to find time to take care of our selves so we still look good outside of the shop.
A couple of products I have learned about over the years and have made them a part of my daily routine are for the care of my beard. I have had a beard for at least 25 years. Various lengths and spreads of course and my wife DOES NOT want me to shave it off. So She makes sure I take care of it.
I really like this stuff. I have wirey facial hair. It can get dry and definitely feel like a wire brush. In the mornings after washing my face with clean fragrance-free soap and sulfur wash, I condition my beard with Cremo Beard and Scruff Softner. Before I walk out the door I comb (really cool wood comb) in some Cremo Beard and Scruff Cream. The Forest Blend Scent is also awesome and Manly!
Alright Now that we have covered that we should probably talk about the Shave. I shave every morning and you know that can dry out some skin.
Before washing with my fragrance-free soap, I use navigator Shaving soap by the Victory Shaving Company. My Brother In Law introduced it to me. This soap comes in a variety of scents. I prefer the navigator because it has Tobacco scent. I also use this soap when I shave my head.
As far as Razors go I use the Dollar shave club razors. With the combination of the soap and the 5 blade jetable razors, I get a shave on my head that lasts for days. So check these guys out and tell me what you think!
You got a product I should try let me know!

One of my downfalls is taking the time to take good pictures of my builds. This one is no exception. However, it was a fun quick project we did for our son’s room remodel. The frame is made out of 1/2″ black pipe and black …
